The application of Graphene will bring about great changes in the industry. China has the advantage in resources and leads in patents
Graphene, a material derived from mineral graphite, was discovered in 2004. Its thickness is only equivalent to one atom, and it has countless characteristics, such as super flexibility, super thermal conductivity, transparency, high strength, superconductivity, and low environmental pollution. It may also become a new energy substitute for oil. These characteristics give this new material a unique position. An important fact is that China has the most Graphene resources in the world. Not only that, it is also at the forefront of producing and researching this material. As one of the main producers of natural graphite, Canada also has considerable development prospects, while the United States does not have such a possibility.
On the world stage, China owns 60% of the world's graphene resources, and has developed most of the innovative uses of graphene today and applied for patents.
According to the report, it is expected that Graphene entering the industrial process will have a devastating impact, because it will lead to the substitution of metals used by people so far. For the above reasons, it has become an important Financial instrument, even though its application has not yet been popularized.
In 2004, physicists Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov of the University of Manchester, UK, used ordinary tape to peel off graphite flakes from graphite, and repeated the operation. The graphite flakes became thinner and thinner, finally obtaining a single layer of graphite flakes, which they called Graphene. It has been proven that this is a thin sheet only as thick as one atom, but it has a large number of characteristics and advantages, which immediately aroused the interest of the scientific community. This discovery and detailed description of Graphene won Heim and Novoselov the Nobel Prize in Physics in Physics in 2010. Novoselov concluded: "Many materials have some characteristics of Graphene. But only this material can combine these characteristics, which brings great possibilities."
As for this material itself, its specifications are at the nanoscale, and its characteristics include: ultra-thin, ultra-flexible, high strength (200 times that of industrial steel, similar to diamond strength), ultra-light (with a mass of one-fifth that of aluminum under the same volume), high thermal conductivity, transparency, strong conductivity, waterproof, low cost, and minimal impact on the environment.
Based on the above situation, the application of Graphene will bring great changes to the following industries:
1. Aviation: Graphene will make the fuselage of the aircraft obtain greater strength, lighter weight and greater flexibility.
2. Agriculture: The University of Iowa has developed a sensor system based on Graphene chips, which can report the water content in crops. These sensors are tied to plant leaves and can detect the water content inside. This system has the advantages of high efficiency and low cost.
3. Food: Graphene can be used to develop edible ingredients without risk of bacterial infection.
4. Automobile: On the one hand, it can make the body lighter and more flexible; On the other hand, it will accelerate the popularization of electric vehicles, because Graphene batteries are very light and can be fully charged in a short time, with a range of up to 600km.
